PENTORSE 100 (Injectable for Canines suffering from Osteoarthritis) is A DISEASE MODIFYING OSTEOARTHRITIS DRUG Product Highlights: -Completely safe and has no reported side effects. -Anti-inflammatory action helps reduce joint inflammation and pain. -Chondroprotective action and inhibition of loss of proteoglycans helps in terminating further destruction of the joint and initiate regeneration of the damaged tissue. -Stimulation of Hyaluronic acid increases the formation of synovial fluid which helps in the lubrication of the joint. -Technically the product shows a long-term effect as compared to other treatment options. Basic Function: - PENTORSE 100 (Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium) is a drug for treatment of osteoarthritis that provide relief from pain by acting on the pathology within the joints that cause the pain. - It also protects and support the recovery of joint cartilage that is damaged by the arthritic process. - PENTORSE 100 has therefore been classified as a Disease Modifying Osteo - Arthritis Drug (DMOAD) and represents the rational approach to the medical treatment of osteoarthritis in Dogs. - Interrelationship of pathologic changes in articular cartilage. Subchondral bone, joint synovial lining and synovial fluid that occur in osteoarthritis joints. Once initiated, the interdependent pathways can be self-sustaining, leading eventually to complete loss of joint function. Pentosan polysulfate (PPS) has been shown to act at a number of points in these pathways. - It alleviates the clinical sign of osteoarthritis by acting on the underline cause of the disease. - Research has shown that Pentorse 100 achieves this effect by acting on a number of pathways responsible for the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis. Contains: Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium - 100 mg/ml DOSAGE PATTERN RECOMMENDED: (Consult your Vet for best guidance) - 3mg/kg BW Subcutaneously (1.0ml per 33kg) weekly once for a period of four weeks. - Repeat with a gap of one month. - The course of treatment is to be given 3 times a year depending on the recovery of the dog. ...Read More
